nativesonsofdrexciya:

Willie Francis (1929-1947) was executed by the State of Louisiana, finally, May 9th, 1947. Francis, originally scheduled to die by electrocution May 3rd, 1946, gruesomely endured a botched execution, the electric chair used, “Gruesome Gertie,” having been improperly set up by a drunk prison guard. Though his case was appealed to the Supreme Court by his attorney, Bertrand DeBlanc, in Francis v. Resweber, 329 U.S. 459 (1947), his appeal was ultimately rejected by the court in a 5-4 decision. He was 17 at the time of his failed execution, and 18 at his time of death. His life, case, imprisonment, and death is chronicled in Gilbert King’s The Execution of Willie Francis.

Shit like this makes me even more disillusioned about America. I no longer believe its lies.
