I’ve been going in on twitter tonight about it, as well as others..

The ad shows a black man tossing the head with an Afro and beard with the motto: “Look Like You Give A Damn…. Re-Civilize Yourself.”

We are constantly bombarded with advertisements, blatant or subliminal, that our natural black features are undesirable.

Just as there is an effort, whether deliberate or not, to degrade black features. There needs to be an equal or greater effort to embrace it

White supremacist ideology is based first and foremost on the degradation of black bodies in order to control them. @CornelWest

Just like companies are quick to drop endorsement deals wit celebs for scandals, @Rihanna, you should drop Nivea for their ad.

Oh, when will celebs that people view as their role models actually stand up for something positive and progressive?

We need to keep fighting to create the space where natural hair is accepted and freely embraced.

Ads like those of Nivea perpetuate the stigmas regarding black hair.

@TyrAnasazi exactly. thats why it pains me when some get mad at others going natural, calling it a trend.
