Twitter recap this week.
A few days ago i was kinda goin in on the education system on twitter. For those not following me on twitter, here are some of my tweets.
Our school systems are under attack and lot of us won’t realize it till we are older and out of school.
Next time you hear a child struggle with a word, don’t just say the word correctly, help him sound it out
Give a man a fish, he’ll eat for a day. But teach him how to fish..
Because of our education system, a child can live here for 11 years and still not be fluent in English. Unable to sound out harder words
We seldom realize that alot of brothers are dropping out of highschool as soon as they hit 16 because they read on a 5th grade level
We have brothers that are embarrassed that they can read well, and we have brothers that are embarrassed because they cant. This has to stop
The school systems purposefully deemphasized teaching our kids how to decode(sound out)words. Stripping them of an essential tool to read
Have your child/sibling read for at least 15mins a day at home. Read your own book with them. Make it a routine. A Routine will become habit
We have money to fund the prison industrial complex, but are cutting school funding and recreation
We got money to fund the prison industrial complex, but cut school funding and recreation. Peep game. They funneling our kids to jail.
The fact is, we have to get involved. All of us, when it comes to educating the youth. Don’t just leave it to politicians or teachers
You telling me the Gov can’t get rid of gangs, when they got rid of the Black Panther party and other groups in a matter of years?
The people who want to cut public education funds, their kids go to private institutions
You can educate our youth now, or let the streets educate them and deal with them later
Black love to everyone who follows me @ZellieImani and always engaging my tweets. I love talking to likeminded positive individuals and brothers and sisters with different views that help me grow. Black Love.
